Note From The Pilot
My name is Shawn Wix. I am the owner and Chief Pilot of Destination Balloon Rides.
We are from Phoenix, Arizona where we fly all winter, but we will now be offering hot air balloon rides near Teton Valley and will launch from Driggs, Idaho, this summer. The high temperatures during the Phoenix summers make it difficult to ride in and fly hot air balloons in Arizona.
We had a blast flying in Coeur d’Alene last year and would like to share the ballooning adventures with everyone who wants to see the beauty of the Grand Tetons this summer.
We are a small company run by a husband and wife team. We cater to small groups and private rides. Smaller groups make the experience more personal and intimate and great for proposals, anniversaries, birthdays, and checking this experience of a lifetime off your bucket list.
Small balloons are also perfect for people who want to get out of the big balloon hustle and bustle, which are packed with 15+ people. Our balloons carry a total of 5 passengers [plus the pilot], which leaves plenty of space for you and your loved ones.
You can learn more about the flights we offer below. If you have any questions, feel free to call me on my cell 302-236-7425 or you can chat on the bottom right-hand side.

We meet near Teton High School (a 45-minute drive from Jackson Hole), then load up into the chase van with the balloon in tow. After deciding on our launch spot, based on the review of the winds and forecast, we drive out to the launch field.
The crew will unload the basket, envelope, and other necessary equipment, and the inflation process will begin. Volunteers are appreciated to help hold the “throat” of the balloon open as the fans fill the envelope with air.
Shawn will light the burners, and the heat will cause the balloon to stand up. You will then get in the basket and will be set free to ascend, floating off into the sky for an epic balloon flight!!
During the Flight
During the flight, you will see Driggs and Teton Valley from a whole new perspective, a totally different point of view.
You will enjoy the feeling of tranquility, as you float peacefully through the air! There is really no way to describe it other than to experience it for yourself.
You’ll see the magnificence of the sunrise as you float across the gorgeous Valley terrain with mountain backdrops from a hot air balloon. You could also see many other sights such as the Grand Tetons, the Teton River, and maybe even some of the local wildlife enjoying the peacefulness of nature.
Once we’ve landed back on earth, there will be a celebration of light refreshments with our traditional post balloon flight toast.
Your ground crew has been keeping an eye on you from the ground to be there when you land. They will be working hard to get everything packed back up so you can then be delivered back to your vehicle.
You will take with you memories of a lifetime and many beautiful photos!!
Small Group Hot Air Balloon Ride
Looking for a magical experience in Driggs and taking your vacation to new heights? Try something exciting and discover the world of ballooning with a small group hot air balloon ride.
Here at Destination Balloon rides we only do flights for small groups, which means when you book this option, you’ll never be in a group of more than 5 people. This is a fantastic way to see the landscape and enjoy the sunrise from the air.
Small group hot air balloon rides start at $349.00 per person
Private Hot Air Balloon Flight
Private balloon flights are a unique way to celebrate that special event in your life. Popular for a romantic, scenic time no matter what occasion you are celebrating. Marriage proposals, anniversaries, birthdays, and those who just want the balloon to themselves.
Our private balloon flight is for up to two people, with no bumping of elbows or obstructed views. A magical hot air balloon flight is a great way to experience the surrounding area and see things from a new perspective.
Private hot air balloon rides start at $1195.00 per flight
Due to weather and winds, only 50% of our sunset flights may be fulfilled. Unfortunately, this is the case for all hot air balloon companies flying near the Grand Tetons.
Additionally, airtime is 30-45 minutes rather than the usual 1 hr due to faster winds causing us to traverse quicker. This results in getting too close to the mountain ranges, making it difficult to land and retrieve the hot air balloon.
There will be no such issues for sunrise flights as the winds are softer in the mornings.
